The digital ink was not long dry on our recent trip report to Indonesia when we heard some breaking news on one of our favorite spots – Komodo Island.
News reports in Melbourne’s, The Age, newspaper suggests the Indonesian government has pushed through a massive hike in the fees for visiting these pristine islands.
According to the reports the Indonesian government has raised the cost of the park entry fee to a whopping $360.
Though the Indonesian government claims this is to assist with the conservation efforts, most would agree that this is nothing more than a blatant cash grab.
For the sake of the local people, hopefully this does not decimate tourism in the area. Time will tell.
